Photo Doggies For Anthony

You may or may not have seen your Facebook news-feed filled with pictures of doggies lately, more so than usual.  That could be because there is a Facebook page for a very special 16 year old boy named, Anthony from Arizona who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia just last year.  He gets visits from dogs only twice a week in the hospital that he stays in to receive treatment for his illness.  He claims that he could be having a really bad day, but when he sees the dogs, it makes him smile and makes him feel a whole lot better.  When his friends and family discovered that it makes him sad when the dogs don't come to visit, that's when they created the Facebook page where they invited millions of people to share pictures of their furry little friends.  Though it were dogs that originally made him happy, he won't deny pictures of cats either which as all of us cat owners know, are just as lovable!

This Facebook page has gone viral!  I just came across it and sent my picture of Isabelle and Simba in to Anthony!  This is the one I sent to him:

Animals are very good for people therapeutically.  Cancer affects everyone differently, but in most cases can be very depressing and stressful.  Usually, animals know when something isn't quite right with an individual and knowing that an animal can sympathize and be there for you during hard times and is one entity that will never abandon you during your time of need has the ability to change anyone's day completely for the better.

So, whether you have a dog or cat, go join in on helping to lift Anthony's spirits by sending him a picture of your furry little friend(s).  Click here to do so.  Believe it or not, you will make a difference and it only takes a few minutes out of your day!

  1. I saw this page too and so many of the posts! It's amazing that so many people have contributed. My sister took the liberty of posting a photo of our dog already so I'm just going to continue to view and like all the other animal photos. I'm sure Anthony will too. It makes me smile when causes that our actually worth it go viral.

  2. I read about this page today, what a wonderful way to ease someone's pain and suffering to invite pets into hospitals. I think this should be way more common. I love that this page went viral and people are sharing their pet shots with those in need. Happy New Year.
