Top 5 Things To Do With Your Tax Return

Tis' the season for taxes, people!  Wednesday, April 15th is the deadline!  So, if you don't want uncle Sam to come a-knocking, hurry up...the clock is tocking!  For those of you who benefit from getting your taxes done, here are the 'Top 5 Things To Do With Your Tax Return'.  Aren't you excited?  I am!

  1. Put part of it toward your savings like a responsible adult.
  2. Buy things that you have needed for quite some time.
  3. Plan a very much needed trip.
  4. Buy yourself something nice, you deserve it.
  5. Don't spend a penny of it.  Keep saving and buy that new car you've been wanting...okay, needing.
Jason and I always look forward to figuring out how we're going to divvy up our tax return because we know that someday, we might not be as fortunate to have one depending on what the future holds.  We finally purchased our couch the other day and are currently waiting for it to be delivered.  I brought myself two (unneeded, but wanted) handbags.  Jason purchased much need (and wanted) parts for his two trucks.  I didn't get enough back to put a hefty down payment on a car, but lets just say that it's a good start to saving toward one.  I knew that had to be one of my priorities, was to put some of my tax return away because my car isn't going to last much longer.  It's old.  Actually, almost as old as I am.  I wanted to purchase a one way ticket to the Caribbean, but we all know how that worked out.  Here are some of the other things that I purchased with my tax return so far:

An electric mixer, because I'm tired of manually stirring large, thick amounts of batter
Candle holders to match our bedroom theme
Curtains to match our bedroom theme
Pretty tie backs for the curtains
A new cat tree for our cats, so they can leave our furniture alone (hopefully)
A new protective phone case for my very expensive Galaxy Note 4

Jason and I are thinking about purchasing this Samsung t.v and kitchen table that we've had our eyes on for a little while now as well, but not sure yet.  When Jason gets his next settlement check from a car accident that he was involved in quite a few years back, we are planning a trip to Europe for sure!
For those of you who haven't received your return yet, be patient.  I'm sure it's on its way.  Obama might have needed to borrow it for one of his vacations again.  For those of you who aren't getting a return this year, but didn't have to pay in, be thankful.  For those of you who had to pay in, I'm sorry.  God bless you.
